Yiannis Giagourtas
Yiannis Giagourtas was born in Alexandroupolis (Greece) in 1981. He completed his Music studies at Athenaeum Conservatory “Maria Kallas” under the direction of E. Assimakopoulos, achieving his Diploma with the highest honors (unanimously granted with the 1st Award and Golden Medal). In parallel with his Music studies he received the Diploma in Accounting and Finance from the University of Macedonia.
Yiannis continued his Music studies with Oscar Ghiglia and he was accepted with scholarship to Academia Chigiana (Siena, Italy) which he completed successfully. He took a part in masterclasses of Roland Dyens, Oscar Ghiglia, David Russell, Vladimir Mikulka, Gary Ryan, Carlo Marchione, Nikita Koshkin and diligently followed the seminars of Baroque music held by Dimitri Ioannou and Panagioti Adam.
Yiannis Giagourtas performed concerts and gave masterclasses all over the Greece, Italy and Serbia. In 2002 he was awarded with the 1st Prize in the National competition in Veroia, dedicated to D. Fampas.
In 2008 he was invited to record for the National TV of Greece in a documentary movie about the work and life of P.Gypas. Yiannis worked closely with the most significant and well-known Greek composers, such as N. Mamangakis.
In 2009 he has been accepted in DIT College of Music in Dublin to finalize his Master Degree in the class of Pr. John Feeley. In the same year he became the first young Greek guitarist sponsored by SAVAREZ.
