JoAnn Faletta International Guitar Concerto Competition, 2016
The JoAnn Faletta International Guitar Concerto Competition, named after the conductor and music director of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, has quickly become over the last several years one of the most important classical guitar competitions, both in the US and internationally. The competition is a biannual event and each of the competitors must play a total of three concerti to show off their commitment to careers as concert artists. This is not a competition for the faint of heart.
This year’s competition takes place June 8–11. Promising one of the highest cash prizes of any international competition, the winner takes home US $10,000 and in the past this has included a recording contract.
