Álvaro Pierri Plays Albéniz
Álvaro Pierri is one of the most inspiring guitarists of his generation. He is a musician of incomparable talent and his interpretations are always fresh and intriguing. Pierri recently did a six-part interview with Marcelo Kayath at Guitar Coop that touches on everything from his encounters with Carlevaro to the “crisis” of the guitar and its future. Those interviews give a taste of the ideas Pierri brings to music; but it’s a whole different thing to hear those ideas come to life.
Here is Álvaro Pierri playing some wonderful transcriptions of Isaac Albéniz’s “Preludio” and “Zortzico” from España, op. 165.
